So here it is the 1st of Goonhilly's re-branding idents. From now on Goonhilly will be split in to 6 different sections under the new parent name of Goonhilly Productions (Cynhyrchiadau Goonhilly). They are as follows:

1) Cwmwl(coomool - as seen above): Interactive Flash Website and Game Division, creating new and exciting web designs and games to keep your customers happy and on Cloud 9! Cwmwl is Welsh for Cloud!

2) Oreion (Orion): Post-Production, some editing, but mostly After Effects will be generated by this Division. We were responsible for this Ident and the idents to follow.

3) Icarws (Icarus): Animation, the core of the company, Icarws Produces Traditional and flash animation, some CG will follow, but the core work is Pencil and Pen Tablet. Whether work for feature Animation or mini internet animations, no project to large or small, that we wouldn't love to be a part of!

4) Aden(Ardenn): Illustration is the name of the game for Aden, creating caricatures, Backgrounds, Still Images of all sorts of weird and wonderfull Creatures and Characters, as well as character Designs and turnarounds. Aden translates as wing, flying you on the wings of inspiration!

5) Taran: Meaning thunder in Welsh, we hope to bring roaring designs to your business, from corporate, product, logo, graphic, to architectural design in future years. We bring you big impact branding to even the smallest of businesses.

6) Seren Wen: A White (Wen) Star (seren) shining like a beacon to all your customers, Seren when works closely with the 'Taran' and 'Cwmwl' divisions to devise viral and corporate marketing strategies to suit your needs. Whether flyering, viral, product or mass media, it can be done. A small arm of the Goonhilly to date, but with great experience in Bluetooth viral marketing running and managing at many big public events, and self promotion, were sure to assist you in all your marketing needs.

So Above is the 1st Ident, there is sound coming and a better High res logo, but all that is to come! Look out for 5 ferther idents, and an Ident for the parent company Goonhilly to be added. The logo launch will happen on here on Saturday August 15th (this satuarday) so look out for that, there will be a grand launch in Octiber containing all Logos, Idents, Websites and Promotional materials, more to follow!

So here's the aforementioned animated avatar, not with final background may I ad. I had some trouble animating it. Mostly with the timing. I'd thumb-nailed, roughed and cleaned the piece and it just looked terrible, the timing was awful and so i began jigging it about. I finally put all the frames on ones (this means every frame had a drawing on it) bar the pauses which were on twos (which means that every other frames have drawings on them) yet it still looked jittery. Confounded that i feared my animation skills had worsened so, i then realized that the animation was on a frame rate of 12 frames per second, rather than the 25 frames per second it should have been on..... needles to say, i felt a bit daft. But oh well, it's finished now, hope you like.

Here's my newest girl, I have been working entirely through Flash recently and it's been quite an interesting process! My basic method is to place down line-less shapes, or paint brush strokes, hold control and manipulate shapes and strokes to my harts content until I have what you see above. The picture is called 'crabs in your pants', crude no? Poor sunbather Rachel has had her bikini bottoms stolen by a horny little crab..... don't ask it just came to me. I think that I have divulged from drawing like this that digital art IS cheating, but a good kind of cheating. I'm just wondering if the same technique as I've used here, could be transfered to traditional painting?.... watch this space!

Here's a scan of a little film idea I have in my head, I strongly want to develop it in to a fully fledged story. In the picture stands a cloud runner, he collects the highlighted parts of clouds to provide the towers and floating cities, or so he he thinks ... but we'll go in to that another time. The original idea that I had was to have a suit with a collector pack attached to the back, and a sucker like on a vacuum cleaner. After a consultation with fellow artist Darren Fereday ( darrenfereday.blogspot.com, check him out! ) the idea of having built in collection pads was disscused, and this is what you see before you. The suit is that of a high level Cloud Runner.

So, this is Lucy, she is my maid, she comes round at 5 every day to clean up my artistic mess...(ahem)...... HA! Only in a dreamworld, a strange dreamworld it seems, where women have ridiculous proportions, which on a real woman would look disgusting and disfigured. So no Girls this is not what men want you to look like, it's just an artist pushing proportions and making the bits he like on a woman bigger. I think my colouring has improved on this one, im using finer brush strokes to convey highlights, and i think my colour palette is becoming more consistant, who knows one day I may venture in to saturation and complementaires.... perish the hought! : 0 What do you think?

Hellooo everyone, well a new drawing has been done, and I think it's the tidiest I've ever done. It depicts a voluptuous young red head pointing a gun at some poor bugger (out of picture) who seems to have incurred her wrath! I call it 'You'd be smiling if you were that t-shirt.' I looked at a lot of artists for colour inspiration and took it from an awesome artist by the name of Khary Randolph, buy his book at www.brandstudiopress.com, it's around $24 (bout £16) but it's well worth it! This is also the first time I've used an abstract background for a piece. I've struggled with finding the right colours before, but i think the green complements the red hair, and i feel the two tone ads interest to the background. The red hair was chosen because of my Girlfriends cool new hair, it was just a random drawing done because I wanted to draw a chick with a gun, no other reason. So I hope you like, some feedback would be great!

DME Designs

Whilst freelance for moonoo productions, I was given the chance of doing some award show slides, I came up with a few and these were the 8 given to the DME (Design Management Europe) people to choose. They ended up choosing the plainest one (top left from the second picture), it wouldn't have been my choice but they were the clients, and the client is always right and I'm glad they liked them more than anything! It was fun to do and a different work area for me!

So my website construction has begun, this will showcase a lot of my work as social networks seem to be able to use any of the stuff that you post for their own financial gain (it's true! read the small print!) so here I am designing a website so that you out there may use it for your own amusement! Above are some templates of what I'm trying to achieve, allthough they are subject to change. I am in the process of learning (x)html and CSS, difficult it is but we shall see how it goes, I've gained a basic knowledge but it is still difficult to crack completely! You shall be updated quite soon on a launch date!

Hello world wide web!

Thank you for coming to say hello, it is very good to see you! Let us begin at the beginning. First a little info on who your reading about. My name is Eilian (pronouncd Isle-ian) Roderick, I am an animation graduate hailing from Aberdare, but I am now a resident of the great metropolis that is Cardiff. I love all things Animation, Drawing is in my veins, and I am extremely keen on Films, Graphics, Design and Architecture. I love music, and am an extremely keen follower of the modern music scene. I have always loved sport, the usual Rugby and Football, but i do enjoy a wide array of sports. I'm a great believer in life-balance, you need to work in life, but you also need to play, doing to much of either one will draw you down a bad path, I've been on both sides, work to hard, and it affects your health, your nerves, and all manner of social situations. Play to much, and it affects your health, your nerves, and all manner of social situations, you get my point. I am a keen fitness fanatic and like to keep myself nice and trim, and yes, there's always time for exercise. So you know a little about me.... What about Goonhilly Creations?

To describe the reason for choosing 'Goonhilly' as a trading name, I have to start with a little sadness. On July 1st, 2008 my father passed away after a hard fought battle with brain cancer. Like any parent he was extremely supportive of anything I did, which would have been slightly hard for him, since I am so creative, and he was not. When my father was in hospital I remember him remarking on a time when I was small, when we visited Cornwall as a family. Being of mechanical mind, my father wanted to see the space telescope dishes at Goon Hilly. Apparently as soon as i heard this name, I did not stop shouting it out loud the whole way home! This gave my father a fond memory. So it is as a testament to his relentless support and unyielding belief in me, that I proudly trade under the Goonhilly name.

But what does Goonhilly provide to YOU the person out there reading this??!! Well whatever creatively you'd like to see really. But lets start with creative beliefs:

The Process Of Art: Art is many different things to many different people, but the more open minded you are, the more progression you will get in the process of creating good art. Whatever someone crates, no matter how lacking it is with certain elements always, always, has something good about it, and the potential to be better. This is always taken in to account by myself. Whatever I create, there is always room for improvement, this is how I progress my art. I conceptualize, create, evaluate, finnish, enjoy, re-evaluate, and learn. This is my process of art.

Positive Thought Brings Positive Outcome: If I go in to a project or evaluate work with a negative or closed mind... I may as well take a gun to my head and pull the trigger, because I'm just as likely to get anywhere with what I'm doing. I like to think positively about whatever I do creatively. Sometimes art gets frustrating, sometimes nothing is going your way, sometimes the piece your doing is going nowhere, its happened to any creative person I've spoken to. I like to just take a break, work on another piece because in this situation I find there is no point. Negative thinking in these situations has resulted in me almost quitting art, therefore the only way forward is to think positively is the only way forward for me. And it seems to work every time.

Smoosh the small minded: There is no room for closed or small minded people in art, these are often patronizing dream crushers, and are so for whatever personal reason they feel inadequate, stop it! Your helping no-one, including yourselves.

Explore All Possibilities: When creating anything, I like to look at all possibilities available to me. These possibilities may come from anywhere, the story, the material, shape, things around me, people, a book, a song, history, other art (face it artists always 'borrow' its how we evolve) anything I can get my hands on. I feel that Inspiration is infinite.

Perspiration: Ever heard the 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration ratio? Well I find its very true! I remarked when I was introducing myself that i like a balance of work and play, well when I work I really work. I am an extremely hard worker and always strife to finnish to the highest quality though this, I like to get my work done.

So now you know my creative beliefs, what kind of services can I offer you then?! Well the list is as follows:

1. Animation.

Traditional or Digital, whatever your stylistic needs, I can provide. Cutout, stylized, cartoon, whatever you like it can be done

2. Illustration.

Again traditional or Digital, any style you like, I also do characatures!

3. Graphic Work.

From Posters to C.D covers it can be done! If you are a band, an institution, a promotions company, or any business in General looking for logos I can design it.

4. Marketing.

I have bluetooth marketing experience as runner and team leader and can provide such services within any marketing discipline.

In addition to the above I am always open to any other artistic challenges and projects you may want to throw my way, even if its not listed, lets chat, I'm sure we could work something out.
